THE FLAGSHIP / IN DEVELOPMENT

SuperCoCo. The Color Computer that might have come next.

A next-generation FPGA Color Computer, designed for cycle-accurate compatibility with its roots and room to explore new graphics, sound, storage, and connectivity.

Development status: RTL and board-interface verification are in progress. SuperCoCo is not yet a finished product, available to order, or validated for all advertised targets.

ARCHITECTURE / MULTI-CORE CONCEPT

Many processing roles. One coordinated system.

SuperCoCo starts with a CoCo-compatible MAIN processor, then explores a bigger idea: separate MC6309 roles for MEDIA, TASK0 and TASK1, coordinated through a central scheduler, GIME and SD-card block. The concept also places a management MCU alongside the shared system services.

Stew's working architecture sketch connects those roles to audio, video, SDRAM and physical I/O. This is the proposed division of work, not a claim of validated multi-core execution, completed hardware or operating-system SMP support.

MAIN and MEDIA

A CoCo-compatible MC6309 host, with a separate proposed MC6309 role for media processing.

TASK0 and TASK1

Two additional MC6309 processing roles in the concept, connected through the central coordination block.

Shared services and I/O

Scheduler, GIME, SD card, management MCU, SDRAM, video, audio, UARTs and peripheral interfaces.

Proposed SuperCoCo multi-core architecture. MAIN MC6309 connects to a central scheduler, GIME and SD-card block. MEDIA MC6309, audio, video and SDRAM are on the left; TASK0, TASK1 and UART, keyboard, mouse, joystick and network peripherals are on the right; a management MCU 6309 sits below.

HARDWARE DIRECTION

Thoughtfully engineered, not rushed.

Two form factors are being explored: a board for a CoCo 3 enclosure and a Mini-ITX-style motherboard. These are proposals, not shipping SKUs.

Our priority is to close the RTL, prove the external interfaces, and build a machine that earns its place on the desk.

SOFTWARE RESEARCH

NitrOS-9 and the next step.

We're researching how NitrOS-9 might use additional processing resources through coordinated services and potentially more ambitious operating-system work. Shared-memory multiprocessor support is a research question — not an existing release or upstream commitment.

We're also developing a companion emulator as part of the exploration and compatibility effort. Public downloads will be announced after the appropriate verification and release review.

No pre-orders or deposits yet. We will share manufacturing and reservation details only after engineering validation and realistic production planning.

FUTURE HARDWARE / YOUR INPUT

Which SuperCoCo would you put on your desk?

We're exploring two board shapes. Your vote will help us understand preferences, but it isn't a reservation or a promise to produce either version. No account, email address, or payment information is needed. The poll uses a small anonymous cookie so a browser can change its vote.

Choose your preferred form factor.

Which would you prefer if both were offered?
Be among the first to see SuperCoCo take shape.

We're not accepting pre-orders, deposits, or payments yet. We'll announce reservation details when design validation, production planning, and support arrangements are sufficiently mature.
